About PriceTechGuy

PriceTechGuy started with a simple frustration: most "best of" gadget lists online are either recycled press releases or thinly disguised ads, and it's genuinely hard to tell which affordable tech is actually worth buying versus which just has the biggest marketing budget. I'm Gerard, and I built this site to be the resource I wished existed — straight comparisons of budget and high-end audio gear, backed by real specs and independent testing data, without the fluff.

Our review process

Every guide on this site starts from published, verifiable information: manufacturer specifications, independent measurement outlets (like RTINGS, SoundGuys, and Audio Science Review), and established retailers like Sweetwater and Thomann. We prioritize products with a real track record over new releases riding launch-week hype, and we say so clearly when a review is research-based rather than hands-on — we're working toward testing more products directly over time, and we'll always disclose which is which.

Our opinions aren't for sale. Affiliate relationships (see our full affiliate disclosure) don't influence which products we recommend or how we rate them — if something isn't worth your money, we say so.

How we choose what to cover

We pick categories and products based on what people are actually trying to decide between, not whatever has the highest commission rate. Each guide typically compares three real, currently-available options that represent genuinely different tradeoffs (price, features, ecosystem fit) rather than three near-identical products padded out to hit a number. If we can't find enough real, verifiable information to write an honest comparison, we don't publish the guide.

What we won't do

We don't accept payment from brands to feature or favorably review their products, and no manufacturer gets to see or approve a guide before it's published. If a well-known brand's product isn't one of our picks in a category, it's because we didn't think it was the best option for that specific comparison — not because it wasn't invited.
